Hey sister... Let's say, you and me in a field service group this Sunday?
Come to this literature counter often?
Want to come to my house for WT study and have some ice cream after?
You look so sexy when you work those Not-At-Homes.
When you were up there with Sister Jones doing your part during the Ministry School, I felt you were speaking directly to me!
Let me carry those Watchtowers to your car for you, darlin'.
I love the high note you hit when you sing "We're Jehovah's Witnesses"

Is it just me or is the GB asking for money more directly.
by life is to short inok soi grew up in the religion and i remember so often the churches being slammed at the meetings for passing the plate and how they shamelessly begged for money.
how we as jehovah's witnesses are so much better because we never ask for money and the contribution box is sort of hidden in the back of the hall like we were even embarrassed to have to have that.
just the word contribution was so much better than the words the worldly churches used.

It's long been a red herring of the WTS to openly criticize churches who pass around collection plates. And it wasn't a big deal until the new literature arrangement came around. The boxes got more conveniently placed near the literature counter, and at assemblies there were several huge Watchtower shaped donation boxes placed all around the new literature release table as if they wanted to make a huge point. I'd rather have the collection plate method now. Throw a couple of low denomination bills in it and be done with it. I was never comfortable about asking people at the door if they wanted to make a contribution. You've barely introduced them to your religion, and yet you want them to donate? That alone probably accounts for many not wanting any further contact.

Not so in Minnesota. There's televised hockey on all the time for teams like St. Cloud State, University of Minnesota, U of M Duluth, and North Dakota State. You hear all the time about Winnipeg fans cursing the NHL when the Jets took off for Phoenix, but there was the same outcry here when the North Stars left for Dallas. I'm glad both teams are back (well, they're the Minnesota Wild now) and hopefully they get put into the same division. It's virtually impossible to get tickets when the Jets come to St. Paul because the Winnipeg fans are making the 8 hour drive down. It's good to see some passion and civic pride.

It makes me wonder when the "What to Do on First Dates" book for Muslims comes out.

I have a question for my Canadian friends here. I go there often, and I see a Tim Hortons on pretty much every street, like McDonalds is down here. I've gone in to see what the fuss was all about, and all I saw were donuts and pastries I can find in every grocery store or gas station back home. Not a sarcastic question at all, but what am I missing? Have any recommendations for me? I'm going there on business in a few weeks.

It's actually a violation of the Judicial Code of Conduct to use the title "Judge" when you are not currently a sitting judge. Rutherford was only entitled to use that title during the four days he served as a substitute.
